Budget Blog Upgrade

I finally took the leap and upgraded my blog to the latest version. I may have gotten carried away trying all the new features, because my blog now looks totally different than it did before. I guess change is good right? As long as I post things that are worth reading, that is most important. Anyway, this week I finished the poetry search web page I was working on. Poems on the Poetlady.com web site are now stored in a searchable database. After selecting the type of poem you want, it will display a list of poems. Next on my list is to do the same thing for the recipe web page.

This week I also had some success connecting a Yamaha keyboard to a midi interface on a computer. I always wanted to experiment with midi and never had the chance until now. The most challenging part was finding the Soundblaster mini midi adapter cables. I have a Soundblaster Live sound card with a front mounted control panel. The control panel has two midi ports, but they are smaller than standard midi. I found one web site that sells SB midi adapters. The price was reasonable, so I ordered a pair. Now I can do all kinds of cool things. I found out that if you change the midi out setting on the computer, a song playing on the computer will be heard on the keyboard speakers.

The new new blog version works good. Can you convert your music to midi played on a keyboard?

Yes I agree the new blogger is an improvement. It should be possible to create midi files from a keyboard that is connected to a computer with both midi-in and midi-out. The Yamaha keyboard I have will record a song as you play. Then you can copy the saved song to a computer using Musicsoft Downloader. But I haven't figured out how to get a midi file out of the 05KP.USR file yet.
