How much is my time worth?

I wonder about that question a lot lately. Selecting a price to charge a customer for a web site is not easy, especially when you need the work. Bid too high and you could loose the job. Bid too low and you end up working for minumin wage. My girlfriend Poetlady works hard. Sometimes 16 hours straight without any sleep. I work hard too, but get paid more per hour, except when I'm designing web sites. I don't think most clients know how much work goes into designing a web site. For example, a site that has 12 pages. If the time estimate is 2 hours per page, and the going rate is $45 per hour, the fee would be $1080. But most of my clients are expecting a budget price, so right now I use $10 per hour, which would be $240 for the same job. Ultimately I end up spending 4 hours per page so I'm really netting something closer to $5 per hour. As I get more clients, I expect to be able to charge more. But right now you can get a very good deal.
