I finally got tired of my old Motorola cell phone not being able to hold a charge. I could have ordered another battery, but it's cheaper to get a new phone (if your contract is up for renewal). Other than the battery, I still liked my old phone, but it was a relic from Alltel and Verizon had made some of the features obsolete. We visited several Verizon stores to get a hands-on look at all the new phones. But, after narrowing down the options, we found the best deal on the Verizon website. I had two phones that needed to be replaced, so I also had to find one that would work for my girlfriend.
In the end, we decided to go with the LG Cosmos. The Cosmos has a slide out keyboard, which I thought would be great for text messaging. Our previous phones didn't have this feature. I was concerned about going from a folding phone to a slide out, but so far it has been an easy transition. Verizon has a ton of accessories for the Cosmos, which was also a factor in my decision. They had a special price on the "Body Glove" snap-on cover (shown in the photo) and a car charger. The phone comes with a wall/usb charger.
For the second phone, my girlfriend went with the pink hardshell snap-on cover. The pink is more red than pink. The add-on covers were easy to install, because they snap right over the existing phone casing. After logging into my account on Verizon.com, I was able to get both phones activated on my own. It took a little while to figure out the favorites list because there were no instructions and Verizon had a bunch of default favorites listed. I added basic text messaging to my account, but I'm avoiding the data service for now. The new phone should come in handy as I start my new job next week. I was out of a job for the last four weeks, so now it may be a little harder to get a hold of me. So far, the LG Cosmos has been preforming well, and hopefully it will be one less thing to worry about.
