Home Sold - So long Saturn!

This weekend we removed that last trailer load of stuff from the home that I owned since July 1992. I can't believe how much junk I managed to pack in that little house. It's so hard to throw things away, when you've had to work so hard to accumulate those items. Now that everything has been moved, I still have to motivate myself to continue sorting and tossing unneeded stuff.

After deducting closing fees and property taxes, I didn't end up with near what I had hoped for. My goal now is to invest the funds as soon as possible to help offset my new mortgage. The investments will need to be fairly safe as I do not want to risk losing even more. It's going to take some time to realize the reduction in my monthly expenses. Water, heat, electric, insurance, taxes, and maintenance came to about $400 per month. The extra money is something to look forward to, but I'm sure something will come along to gobble that up.

I was holding out with a few persons at a wedding lately and the conversation converted to today's real estate market.
