Budget Resolutions
Anyone that says they don't make new year's resolutions is wasting a good opportunity for self improvement. Even if you don't follow through on your resolution, it helps to think about what you could do (if you had the will power)to make life better for yourself and others. This coming year I want to finish editing the book that my girlfriend and I started writing over three years ago. Basically so I can get that off my plate and move on with other writing projects that are in development. For the web design business, I want to start using more databases in the websites that I maintain. The first is going to be a poetry and recipe database on poetlady.com. Once I complete the php programming for one database the others should be easy. I haven't done a lot of php work but it doesn't seem too much different than perl and I recently acquired the O'Reilly book Learning PHP and another for MySql. So I am hoping that I can accomplish a minimum of two great things in 2007.

Budget New Year
The new year doesn't start for another week, but I'm already thinking about what I can do to meet my financial goals for next year. Well my goal is always the same, get enough money in the bank so I don't have to work anymore. Nice goal, but it isn't going to happen in one year. I'm better off going with the "don't spend more than you make each month" goal. I hope they keep CD rates at or above the 5 percent mark next year. I never used to be concerned with such things. Accumulating wealth can turn into an obsession just like anything else I guess. But if you tried to seek help for a problem like that, the doctor's bill would surely make your money go away.

Budget Feedback
This week I added a shiny new feedback form to Budget Homepage. That should make it super easy for people to send me quote requests. I have used web forms on other web sites and it seems to work well. I can not understand why spammers send email to non-existent email accounts on my domains. I just looked at the logs for the past week and I can't believe how much useless email is being sent out. We finally put up a Christmas tree last weekend. It's only 5 foot tall and plastic. Last year we had a real one. But this year, the dentist bill needs to be paid before we can enjoy such luxury.

Christmas again?
It's Christmas time again, but I don't even feel like putting up a tree this year. I think it has something to do with the way the retailers bombard us with newspaper ads and tv commercials the day after Thanksgiving. The news people say that the average American will spend eight hundred and some odd dollars each on gifts. What if I spend less? Is that going to ruin the economy? I doubt it. Anyway, with time I hope to shake off these dower feelings and have an enjoyable holiday, unencumbered by feelings of gifting inadequacy. On the business front, I just finished a new website for a client. This one will eventually give people the option to buy online. You can see it here: Federal Contract Consultants
